Rafael Nadal has expressed his determination to come back from injury and win more Grand Slam titles.
The 14 Grand Slam title-winner's year has been hampered with injury problems, which meant the Spaniard was unable to try and win his 10th French Open, or compete at Wimbledon or the US Open.
But Nadal, speaking at his new academy in his home town of Manacor on the island of Majorca, appears to have that well-known competitive attitude back.
"I'm going to work more than ever to try to make that happen and I have big determination to put me in a position to fight again for important things."
Nadal withdrew from his third round match against Marcel Granollers in this year's French Open, which was due to an injured left wrist.
The 30-year-old felt he was enjoying his tennis, which made the injury harder to take.
"It's been a tough year for me because I got injured at the worst possible time when I was playing great and having a lot of fun on the court," he said.
"But that's part of life and I just have to be positive and keep working hard and my main goal now is to recover and be ready for next season."
The 2017 Grand Slam season starts in January with the Australian Open up for grabs. Nadal is simply looking forward to be back competing again.
"I'm really motivated to come back to where I was before the injury happened because I feel ready for it," he said.
