European Paper Talk: Javier Pastore targeted by AC Milan and Inter Milan

European sides can't strengthen their squads until January, but that doesn't stop deals from being struck and contracts being agreed ahead of the winter transfer window opening.

Italy

AC and Inter Milan will go head to head in a race to sign Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Javier Pastore. The Argentine has fallen down the pecking order at the Parc des Princes and is open to an exit in January. Inter are currently front-runners to sign the £35m-rated midfielder but AC Milan are also closely monitoring the situation. (Mercato365)

Antonio Conte has refused to be drawn into talk over his long-term future and was coy on reports linking him with taking over as AC Milan boss in the summer. The Chelsea head coach is expected to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season amid reports that his relationship with Roman Abramovich has broken down. (Calciomercato)

Inter director of football Piero Ausilio has revealed Manchester United transfer target Ivan Perisic is happy to remain at Inter. Reports linked the Croatian winger with a move to Old Trafford in the summer but the deal never materialised. And Ausilio says Perisic is not agitating for a move away.

"We know how important he [Perisic] is", Ausilio said. "He is happy to stay at Inter, he is a great pro, he takes care of every small detail and I think one can see it. He is a top player to me." (Premium Sport)

Spain

The form of Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann is becoming a worry for Atletico Madrid. The forward has not scored since September 27 and his current slump continued against Deportivo La Coruna, being substituted in the 80th-minute with the score still 0-0. Atletico went on to win the game 1-0 and Diego Simeone may drop the France international after an alarming dip in form. (Marca)

Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele could be fit for next month's El Clasico with Real Madrid after making fast progress on his recovery from injury. The 24-year-old playmaker has been linked with a move to the Emirates and looked good in the two games against Everton in the Europa League. Manchester United and Barcelona have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano. The Bundesliga club have slapped an £88.5m price-tag on the 19-year-old, a figure neither club will be willing to meet. (Sport BILD)
