Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has played down rumours linking him with a move away from the Bernabeu.

The France international, who began his career at Lyon, has been heavily linked with Arsenal.

However, the 27 year-old forward has taken to Twitter to quell the speculation, saying he is happy to remain in Spain.

"For all those clowns who want to make believe things at my fans. Here this is my home ! #HalaMadridYNadaMas," Benzema wrote.

Madrid also released a statement on their website stating that Benzema had trained on Monday with the rest of the squad, as he continues to recover from a thigh injury.

"Benzema worked with the group during the first part of the training session when the players who started against Sporting trained at a lower intensity level," the statement read.

Madrid began the new La Liga season with a disappointing goalless draw away at Sporting Gijon on Sunday. Rafael Benitez will be hoping for a better performance when Real host Betis in the league on Saturday.
