Coventry City teenager Bassala Sambou has agreed professional terms with Everton.

The 18-year-old striker has been with the Sky Bet League One club for the past three years and the Sky Blues have "reluctantly" allowed him to leave after a compensation package was agreed.

Germany-born Sambou made his senior debut for Coventry in their FA Cup first round defeat against Northampton in November, coming on as a second-half sub.

Sambou was a prolific goalscorer at U18 and U21 levels for Coventry last season, scoring 25 times, including eight in their FA Youth Cup run.

Everton have made a second "massive" move for Southampton boss Ronald Koeman, says Dutch journalist

Technical director Mark Venus said on the club's website: "We will be sad to see Bassala leave the club after his time with the City Academy, but want to wish him success for the future.

"It was with great reluctance that we accepted terms for Bassala to leave and the greatest efforts were made to keep him as a Coventry City player.

"The club understands that the opportunity presented to Bassala would have been hard to turn down and respect his decision to move on. We have worked hard alongside Everton FC to agree terms that give Sambou's footballing career the best chance of developing successfully.
