Arsenal are in advanced talks to sign 20-year old centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos from PAS Giannina.

It is understood Arsenal want to tie-up a permanent deal for the Greece U21 international before sending him out on loan to German side Werder Bremen.

Mavropanos made his debut in the Greek top-flight last season and has made 14 appearances in the competition for Giannina this season.

Arsenal have had no offers for Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez or Jack Wilshere, says Arsene Wenger, but the club are on the lookout for new signings.

"We are out there and look of course to do some things," he said.

"We will do, but when is very difficult to say because that does not depend only on us. We are open to any position for the exceptional player that can give us a plus. It depends a little bit on the injuries as well.
