Tom Dascombe outlines Brown Panther options

Trainer Tom Dascombe has raised the possibility of Brown Panther defending his crown in the Irish St Leger.

The seven-year-old was a brilliant winner of the Curragh Group One last September and made a fantastic start to the new campaign by winning the Gold Cup at Meydan in late March.

After filling the runner-up spot in last month's Yorkshire Cup, connections were eyeing a second tilt at the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot, having finished third last year, but injury intervened.

Dascombe is pleased to report his stable star's injuries are not serious and is hopeful he could return before the end of the season.

Dascombe said: "He's been bone-scanned and the good news is it's not career-threatening and it's not life-threatening. The horse is going to be OK, which is the main thing.

"We'll see how he is when he's fully recovered, but there's a chance he could go back for the Irish St Leger. There's also the Qipco race (British Champions Long Distance Cup) on Champions Day at Ascot in October.
