Stars head coach Stephen Fleming, a former captain of New Zealand, added: "Kevin has already made a considerable contribution to the team on and off the field.

"To have him for another two seasons will allow us to continue to build and develop the squad with consistency.

"KP wins games and, the more game breakers you can have in your squad, the more chances you give your team of winning tournaments."

And Melbourne Stars Chief Executive Clint Cooper added: "Kevin has been fantastic behind the scenes at the club.

"He's a positive influence in the dressing rooms and works with the young guys at training, it's really good to see."
