Surrey move helped seamer rediscover passion for the game

Surrey fast bowler Chris Tremlett is confident of making a big impression in Australia this winter after being recalled from the international wilderness as part of England's Ashes squad. Tremlett is included in a 16-man party heading Down Under to defend the urn over five Tests, starting in Brisbane on November 25. The 29-year-old, who stands at 6ft 7in, took 13 wickets in three Tests against India in 2007 but a combination of injuries and loss of form subsequently saw him fall down the pecking order. He switched counties last year from Hampshire to Surrey in a bid to revive his flagging career. And the move worked a treat, Tremlett bagging 48 Championship wickets to force his way into the Ashes reckoning.

Injury-free

"My confidence is higher than it's ever been," he told Surrey TV. "I've played pretty much all season without an injury which is in itself a big positive for me because I don't think I've ever got through a full season without picking up some injury - that is a big point. "Also, I feel I'm a much better bowler than I was a couple of years ago, even when I did play for England. "(Those are) massive positives to take to Australia, I'm in form and hopefully I can take that form over on the plane and go from there." Tremlett explained how life at the Oval has turned his form around after he became disillusioned at Hampshire. "Enjoying it again has probably been the biggest thing," he said. "Last season I did stop enjoying it a bit and that's why I felt like I needed a fresh start. "I've loved every minute with Surrey. There have been a few ups and downs team-wise but personally I've loved the boys and coaching staff - everything about Surrey has been brilliant. "I've been made to feel very welcome here and I've genuinely loved every minute of it.
Surprised
"...I've had a very successful season personally, a great year with Surrey, but this just tops it off. "(At the start of the season) it was just a case of bowling as much as I could for Surrey. "(England) wasn't really on my radar, although something I had in the back of my mind at some point was to get back into the England set-up. "...I've almost surprised myself a little bit by doing as well as I have and staying on the park as much as I have."
