Tiger Woods is back! After an absence of 466 days, the 14-time major champion made his long-awaited return to competitive golf at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas.
The anticipation and interest was at an unprecedented level as Woods stepped onto the first tee at Albany Golf Club alongside Ryder Cup star Patrick Reed.
Woods, whose last appearance was at the Wyndham Championship in August last year, has been out of action since undergoing major back surgery a month after the Wyndham, and he has freely admitted he feared his career was over during his long and arduous rehabilitation.
But after an aborted comeback attempt at the Safeway Open in October, Woods declared himself fit and ready to return at the tournament he hosts every year on behalf of his foundation.
And at noon local time, Woods removed the famous Tiger headcover from his driver and unleashed one of the most significant tee shots of his career.

His swing looked smoother and less powerful than in recent years, but he was unable to find the opening fairway as his ball nestled in thick rough just short of a fairway bunker.
