Sam Baird reeled off the final four frames as he wrapped up a first round victory over Michael White on day three of the Betfred World Championship in Sheffield.
The Englishman rallied from 6-7 down to win 10-7 at the Crucible and will face the winner of the tie between Mark Selby and Robert Milkins in the last 16.
World No 1 Selby, the 2014 champion, leads 7-2 with the match to be completed on Tuesday morning.
White, the No 15 seed, had moved 7-6 ahead with a break of 102 in frame 13 but was unable to stop the 27-year-old from Devon who responded with breaks of 54, 103 and 62 in frames 15, 16 and 17 respectively.
It was Baird's first ever win in Sheffield, as he shocked his Welsh opponent who had reached the quarter-finals as a 21-year-old in 2013.
In the other match, which was played to a finish on Monday evening, Ricky Walden beat Robbie Williams 10-8.
In the battle of two Englishmen, Walden took five of the last six frames sealing his win with a break of 87.
The only consolation for Williams was that he posted the highest break of the match in the penultimate frame - a 104.
