Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford is actively seeking opportunities elsewhere to be a long-term starter, according to his agent.
Tom Conlon stated on Monday night that Bradford will forego voluntary workouts with the Eagles, as he looks to secure a deal away from Philadelphia.
"Sam's a competitor and he wants to go some place and know he's the man," Conlon said to SiriusXM NFL Radio.
"He doesn't view himself as somebody that's a stop-gap kind of quarterback and he wants to go some place and take a chance on (being) with a team for a long time."
Last week, the Eagles agreed a trade with the Cleveland Browns to take the No 2 overall pick. The trade, in which Philadelphia gave up five of their own selections over the next two years, means they are likely to recruit a quarterback.
The franchise also added QB Chase Daniel in free agency, who worked closely with head coach Doug Pederson during their time together at the Kansas City Chiefs.
Executive vice-president Howie Roseman has confirmed that Bradford is still the starting QB for the Eagles, despite this announcement.
It is anticipated that Carson Wentz, touted to be the Eagles' QB of choice, would act as back up in his first season, as a way of easing him into the rigours of the NFL. However, Conlon believes that Bradford should be given the opportunity to win a starting job long term.
"Sam's only been in the league for six years and he wants to go some place and be there and know that he's going to stay as long as he plays well, and his situation now in Philadelphia is different.
"He just doesn't want to be there holding the place card and then wondering where's he's going to go at the end of the year."
There are a number of teams still looking to confirm their starting quarterback. The New York Jets are yet to agree a deal with free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick, and the Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns may also be interested.
It may be that Bradford stays with the Eagles. He received an $11m signing bonus in February which, if traded, would be a big fee to swallow.
