Kasseopia so impressive at Kempton

Kasseopia could be pitched into Group-race company on his next start after storming to a scintillating victory in the ilnsure 365 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden Stakes at Kempton Park on Friday evening.

After finishing second at the track last month, the two-year-old went one better when making virtually all in the mile contest under Martin Lane.

While plenty looked poised to challenge the 3/1 winner coming off the bend, they could not answer his finishing kick, with the son of Showcasing powering away to cross the line nine lengths to the good.

With his maiden win now under his belt, Newmarket handler Charlie Fellowes suggested his entry in the Group Two At The Races Champagne Stakes at Doncaster next week could now be fulfilled.

Fellowes said: "Everyone knows what I think about this horse. I know I have only been training for a year and a half, but he is the best horse I have had. This horse is the real deal.

"He is so laid back and relaxed that he probably needed those first two runs as he was still learning.

"The filly (Pure Diamond) got first run on us last time and we would go close if we took her on again. He is only just working out what it is all about. The Champagne Stakes is a possibility. It is not ideal with it being only a week away, but it is not something we are ruling out.

Amanda Perrett can begin to plot a path towards bigger and better prizes with Zhui Feng after he hit the target at the second time of asking in the 32Red Casino/Irish EBF Maiden Stakes.

Benefiting from a switch to front-running tactics the 6/1 shot reversed Salisbury form with Dark Shot and Jan Steen to hold off the late challenge of newcomer Marhsa and claim the six-furlong event by a length.

Perrett said: "I think we had the run of the race so we were lucky in that regard. We have not had a great run with our two-year-olds.

"He is from a family that is bred to mature as he gets older and he has benefited from his first run.

"He was a little bit keen at home in the early days, but he has really grown up and learnt how to settle. We will see how he comes out of it, but he is in the Tattersalls Sales races and a couple of Group races."

Frankie Dettori feels a Listed race is well within the reach of Al Shahaniya after she maintained her unbeaten status with a game success in the Longines Irish Champions Weekend EBF Fillies' Conditions Stakes.

Despite looking like a sitting duck for odds-on favourite Sun'aq, the John Quinn-trained 6-4 chance found plenty for pressure on her step up to seven furlongs, following up her maiden win at Hamilton by a half a length for owners Al Shaqab Racing.

Dettori said: "She is very honest and did the job well. She was very tough to battle back. She has won a maiden and a conditions race and I am sure John will find a Listed race for her.

"She gives me the feeling that a Listed race is within her reach."

Majeed (5/1) improved his impressive strike-rate on a synthetic surface when getting the better of a head-bobbing finish to land the 32Red Handicap.

The lightly-raced five-year-old finished with a flourish to edge out favourite Landwade Lad by a nose to make it win number four on the all-weather.

Winning trainer David Simcock said: "He is an improving horse and he done well to win from where he was.

"He seems very comfortable on a synthetic surface. He has an American back catalogue and maybe that has something to do with it. I am really pleased with him, but there are no plans at this stage."
