Lanzarote Hurdle aim for Betchworth

Alan King says the Lanzarote Hurdle at Kempton on Saturday could be the ideal test for The Betchworth Kid. He finished second in the November Handicap on the Flat and finished fourth in the Gerry Feilden behind Tocca Ferro on his only start over hurdles this season. "This race could really suit The Betchworth Kid and I think he'll definitely run," said King. Shalone was last seen finishing third to Zaynar in the Relkeel Hurdle of 2009. "I'll see how Shalone works tomorrow but I might wait for Ascot next week with him and I haven't really studied the race long enough to decide whether Like A Hurricane will run. The Betchworth Kid is certainly an intended runner," added King. Dantari is a likely runner for in-form Evan Williams. He can be given a chance on his second behind Any Given Day at Chepstow in October in light of the improvement of the winner. "I think he'll come on for his last run at Taunton a little bit. He's a tough horse who thrives on racing. There's good prize money and he deserves his place in the field, albeit he has a lot to find," Williams told At The Races. "He's a genuine, consistent horse. Like every horse when the handicapper gets them it's difficult. On his day he's very good and very tough."
