Green Destiny's Glorious Goodwood flop can be ignored

William Haggas is considering the Sky Bet Mobile Strensall Stakes at York for Green Destiny. The four-year-old has had something of an in-and-out season but the trainer has never hidden the regard in which he holds the gelded son of Marju. He made a winning seasonal reappearance at Newmarket and, following that impressive success, was sent off a short-priced favourite in the Wolferton Handicap at Royal Ascot. Green Destiny was never a factor in that race but bounced back to win the valuable John Smith's Cup at York before suffering another expensive reverse in the totesport Mile at Glorious Goodwood. However the trainer is inclined to put a line through that performance: "It just didn't go his way, he was drawn on the inside which was great but he didn't get his position and it was a mess from the first furlong so just put a line through it," he told At The Races. As regards future plans, Haggas added: "He'll go for a Group race or something of that ilk, possibly York for the Strensall which is a bit short for him or possibly Windsor for the Winter Hill Stakes but we still haven't discussed it."
