Roger Varian has the Classics firmly in his mind for his "adorable three year-old" Firdaws but isn't yet sure where she'll make her seasonal return.

Guineas and Oaks on fillies' radar

Roger Varian is hoping that he has a contender for the Classics on his hands with Firdaws, who was last seen finishing third in the Fillies' Mile at Newmarket last September. Although the beautifully-bred Mr Greeley filly holds an entry in the 1000 Guineas, Varian views her as more of a middle-distance prospect. "Firdaws is an adorable three-year-old," said the Newmarket handler. "I'm not quite sure where she'll start off. She's done very well and is moving great, but I haven't stepped her up to fast work yet. "She holds a Guineas entry but it might be that she starts out in a 10-furlong trial. "I'm thinking of her being a middle-distance filly, rather than a miler, but if she's eyecatching in her work in the next few weeks she does have a Guineas entry. "There's plenty of stamina given her dam (Eswarah) won an Oaks, so there's every chance she'll get the trip. "She's by Mr Greeley, though, and he has his fair share of quicker horses as well. "This is the best time of year to be a trainer - the bubbles aren't burst just yet."
