1000 Guineas hope would prefer easier surface

Dermot Weld has warned Famous Name could miss Sunday's Tattersalls Gold Cup due to the ground which is quickening up at the Curragh. The seven-year-old is due to go in search of an elusive Group One victory in against So You Think but is far from certain to line-up. The trainer said: "The horse I would be concerned about on the ground is Famous Name. I'll look at the hill, it's pretty firm at the moment and if they don't get enough water on, I'd be wrong to run him. He's doubtful." Weld is also potentially concerned about the fast ground of his Etihad Airways Irish 1,000 Guineas contender Yellow Rosebud. She won the trial for this race at Leopardstown on easy ground, so a quick surface would be a worry for Weld. He said: "She's very well, she's a good filly. She does bend her knee a little bit which means she hits the ground a bit hard so I'm a little bit concerned about the ground, that'd be my main concern. It's going to be on the fast side and hopefully she'll handle it."
