John McConnell could let Orgilgo Bay renew rivalries with Dibayani next month following his colt's highly encouraging debut at the Curragh.
Dibayani was the long odds-on favourite for the Darley EBF Maiden, having finished a close second to The United States on his course and distance introduction in a race that has worked out extremely well.
Although a 33-1 chance, the unraced Orgilgo Bay pushed him all the way and was only beaten half a length, pulling well clear of three Aidan O'Brien runners.
Mick Halford's Dibayani is bound for the Coolmore Canford Cliffs Stakes at Tipperary on August 10 and McConnell's charge could go for the same Listed contest.
Over The Moon
"We knew he was decent and we put him in a race like that because we wanted to find out how good he was," said McConnell.
"We were over the moon with his run, but it wasn't totally out of the blue.
"The winner looks a good horse and I know Joseph O'Brien thinks the three horses of Aidan's that finished behind him are pretty decent as well.
"We could take on Dibayani again at Tipperary.
"We know a bit more about our horse now and I wouldn't be afraid to run against him again, so we'll see.
"If he doesn't go to Tipperary, we'll just try and find a maiden for him somewhere and step him up to a mile.
"He's from a family that got better with age and he should do the same. Hopefully he progresses like everyone thinks he will."
