Unbeaten star set for racecourse gallop

Racegoers are set to get the opportunity to have what is likely to be a penultimate glimpse of Frankel at Newmarket on Saturday. The unbeaten Sir Henry Cecil-trained superstar will parade and gallop in a simulation of a racecourse experience as he prepares for the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 20. The world's highest-rated horse will go through his paces in company with regular companion Bullet Train and Midsummer Sun, with the jockeys in silks. Frankel is scheduled to enter the pre-parade ring at around 12.40pm and work at 1pm. Cecil said: "I am looking forward to bringing Frankel to gallop at Newmarket where he will be ridden by Tom Queally.

Race Simulation

"I am keen for the experience to feel like a race for Frankel so will saddle at the course before the three horses take a couple of turns in the main parade ring. "The gallop will be over a mile and one furlong and the intention is for Frankel to go to the winner's enclosure afterwards." Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to Frankel's owner Khalid Abdullah, said: "Henry wanted it to have all the intricacies of a real race, so he'll do a turn of the paddock, as he would for a race, go down to the start, and everyone will be in colours. "He's been in good form at home and looks in great shape. "We'll try as far as possible to make it like race conditions, but whether Frankel will be fooled by that is another matter."
