Zarkandar completes Automne raid

Zarkandar earned himself a crack at more top staying hurdle races after landing a fourth Grade One success in the Grand Prix d'Automne at Auteuil.

The Paul Nicholls-trained seven-year-old got the better of French stalwart Gemix after jumping the last and pulled five lengths clear in the hands of Vincent Cheminaud.

The Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot could be the next port of call, with the Ladbrokes World Hurdle and a return to Paris for the French Champion Hurdle possible further down the line.

"He won really well today, and will probably go to the Long Walk now," said Nicholls. "After that we'll go for the World Hurdle and French Champion Hurdle.

"I took him for a piece of work with Lac Fontana at Chepstow last weekend and he absolutely murdered him.
