In depth

Verdict

The three-year-old GRAINNE WHALE gave her first hint at ability when runner-up at Wexford over this trip and though subsequently beaten when favourite at Ballinrobe the extra furlong didn't suit and it looked a stronger race than this. She can gain her first victory as it's a surprise to see Hyden back over this trip after his easy success over 1m4f at Tramore though he did lead all the way and was well clear until fading a little close home. Danehill Tapdancer was also racing over that trip for the first time when making all under his Dutch rider in a Ladies Race at the Curragh where he made all. However, the opposition allowed him far too much rope and the result is best ignored. Chaparro has only won once and looks high in the weights due to his consistency but Jeangeorges is 7lb lower than when landing a Leopardstown handicap in October and is on the short-list. The consistent Secret Hero is another with a chance in an open contest.
