The draw looks set to play a major part here, with Sholto in stall 17 taken to get the better of Justalord and Far Note, with Sir Sandrovitch having it to do from box one. Sholto has been in fine form of late, and there was no fluke about his recent success in classified company at Pontefract. Kept handy by David Allan, he was able to pick off the pacemakers close home to score readily, and a repeat of those tactics should enable him to follow up. His trainer Jimmy O'Reilly backed him when the gelding scored at Catterick last August and any moves in the market here should definitely be noted. Justalord is looking a bit high in the weights at present but is not badly drawn in 12, while Far Note ran a blinder at Pontefract on his first start since November, making them all go until tiring close home, and is sure to appreciate the drop back to five furlongs. Sir Sandrovitch would be a danger to all if not for his terrible draw in stall one, but if he can track across early, might be good for a place. Sholto should just about hold on from Far Note.
