All of these have been hard to win with and the selection of Greenwood is made with a large amount of trepidation as he is closely matched with the likes of Jim Boyle's stablemates Idle Power and Concubine should they all consent to run anywhere near their best. The same comments apply to Dawn Piper, who has plenty of ability but he has become most reluctant to show it on a racecourse and is therefore overlooked until he shows a little more enthusiasm for the game. Which brings us back to Greenwood, who holds David Loder's representative from a meeting at Lingfield at the start of the year. There does have to be the nagging doubt about the form of Pat Murphy's runners as they have endured an absolute nightmare in recent times. However, working on the assumption that the Berkshire trainer's luck has to change at some point, Greenwood is given the benefit of the doubt today. The six-year-old is likely to represent slightly more value than the penalised Idle Power, who is reluctantly passed over as it is an awful long time since he has run two races the same and is no good thing to follow up his Goodwood victory over this longer trip with 3lb extra to boot.
