In depth

Verdict

CLAUDE CARTER is upped in class and raised 7lb in the weights after winning at Sedgefield earlier this month, but it could pay to stick with Alistair Whillans' charge as appears to be the only one capable of putting two good races together. Chester Lad has posted three poor efforts since runner-up at Wetherby, Sedgefield winner City Ground finished lame when last seen in May and dual Kelso winner Bogside was pulled-up on his reappearance. Weetfromthechaff was tailed off last month after scoring at Kelso, but Open De L'isle won the last renewal of this in 2009 and could be thereabouts.
