In depth

Verdict

French import PIROULET returned from a lengthy absence with a promising fourth at Ludlow on his hurdling debut. That form looks solid with the runner-up having subsequently won and Philip Hobbs' charge gets the vote to open his account. Well beaten on his hurdling bow last March, Bermuda Boy has since had a breathing operation and shaped much better in a bumper at Kempton last month. He will be thereabouts at the finish while Barrie Burn could prove the best of Jonjo O'Neill's four runners.
