In depth

Verdict

Poor old Barney Dwan is not having much luck as he had every chance when unseating his rider at the second-last in the race won by the prolific Tobefair at Warwick. He was harshly raised 5lb for that but is 3lb better off with the winner, who was entered yesterday at Newbury. David Pipe has four entries so will be expecting some return. Eamon An Cnoic is two from two this campaign and looks the pick of the quartet. Ballymalin has been thriving in novice company but the handicapper doesn’t appear to have taken any chances. ROCKLANDER didn’t quite get home up the Cheltenham hill behind the latter’s stablemate Cogry last time but may fare better here, despite a 6lb rise. Fingal Bay was only fourth in that Cheltenham race but has won twice around here and is no back number while Impulsive Star could be well treated on his handicap debut with Sam Waley-Cohen claiming 3lb.
