Verdict

So Beloved hasn’t won since landing this two years ago but is rarely beaten far and was third in last year’s renewal. ABSOLUTELY SO was second last year, however, and David O’Meara’s charge might struggle to reverse the form having failed to reel in Kimberella on his reappearance at Thirsk. Andrew Balding’s runner is another reliable sort and probably needed a recent outing at Newmarket so gets the nod though Makzeem won twice at Newmarket last year and connections appear to have found his best trip while Mubtasim was placed in good company last season, though largely over 6f. Tabarrak hated the soft ground at Doncaster and also warrants respect on his best form.
