Verdict

An open contest to finish with can go the way of Assumetheposition who bounced back to form last time out and can go in again, at the main expense of Uneven Line, Baligrundle, and Mister Magnum. The selection will have a seven pound penalty to shoulder today but the manner of that victory at Market Rasen suggested that he may run up a little sequence as he still looks feasibly handicapped. His stable are in fair form at present and he looks the value call in an open contest. Mister Magnum is yet to win in 19 attempts but should run his race now stepped up in trip, whilst Uneven Line is more consistent and as a course and distance winner deserves plenty of respect. Baligrundle won well on his penultimate start but then fell last time out. If eradicating those mistakes he certainly has place claims at least, whilst Tobesure and Tregastel are two old-timers with place claims if back on song. In an open contest, we will tentatively return to recent winner Assumetheposition to go in again.
