In depth

Verdict

TOUCH OF IRISH should be a tough nut to crack if translating the form he showed in bumpers to this discipline. The penalised pair set the standard. Lord Larsson didn't look any great shakes on his first two starts but beat a couple of well regarded individuals at Newcastle and there was no hint of a fluke about the success. There should be more to come from him and he'll benefit from a longer trip in due course. Sea Storm came to this game rather late in the day but he's adapted pretty well and could pick up some prize money for his connections although it's difficult to envisage him landing the lion's share. There are some interesting hurdling debutants and the market may prove to be revealing with regard to their chances but it would be a surprise if Touch Of Irish weren't at the head of it. He won twice before finishing second in the Grade 2 at Aintree and his season culminated with a fine fifth behind Cousin Vinny at Punchestown. It will be disappointing if Touch Of Irish can't go close on his hurdling bow.
