Verdict

A good contest to open with, and we'll side with ELNAWIN to complete a hat-trick, in preference to Khor Dubai and Flashman's Papers. The selection was an impressive winner of the St Leger Yearling Stakes last month at a big price, turning over a Richard Hannon stablemate in the process. He's got the highest official rating, and although drawn high, could see off all his rivals here. The other Hannon runner in this race is Icesolator, who's been unable to follow up a Listed success from earlier in the year. His three successes have all come over the minium trip. Khor Dubai won a couple of lower grade races before being tried in a Group One without success, so this may be more his level, and he's got a handy low draw. Flashman's Papers upset the form book to win the Windsor Castle Stakes at 100-1 at Royal Ascot, but that may have been a one off as he's disappointed since. This is a step up too for him from five to six furlongs. Karl Burke won this race last year, and is represented by Keeptheboatafloat, who races in this kind of company for the first time. But the one who sets the standard, and is our selection is Elnawin.
