In depth

Verdict

In a wide open maiden where there is some useful pedigree we very cautiously side with HIGHLAND KNIGHT ahead of Fork Lightning, Compton Park and Rocky Mood. Highland Knight is preferred because of a recent commendable second behind Man of Action when losing out by just three-quarters of a length. If showing that sort of form here it could be enough to snatch the win. Compton Park has not shown enough improvement in four starts to merit backing here. Fork Lightning ran an average debut and did not sparkle, although a furlong drop in trip could help here. Conceptual Art is an interesting prospect for the each way placings after finishing third in a maiden at the course back in April. A further third at Southwell has followed and there is scope for improvement. Rocky Mood has an interesting Sire in Rock of Gibraltar but after two poor runs so far does not offer much to go on and is best watched here. Our tentative selection is Highland Knight.
