In depth

Verdict

Manduro gets the confident vote here with Speciosa and Imperial Star rating the main dangers. The selection was a good second behind Soldier Hollow when last seen and with his shrewd trainer expecting him to improve for this faster ground he looks the one to be on. Speciosa rates the main danger on her best form of last season, and she goes well fresh, but all her best efforts have come with much more cut in the ground and she is opposed with this in mind. Imperial Star looked a horse to follow when beating Grand Passion in ther Magnolia Stakes last time and he has definite place claims but he will need to have improved again if he is to win. Secret World is held in high regard but he disappointed on his final start last season and may just need the run after a 302-day abscence. Of the remainder, Dunelight has conditions to suit and could go well at a price but for the winner we are happy to return to Manduro.
