In depth

Verdict

An uninspiring contest that is little better than a seller and Toni Alcala is handed the vote to confirm recent promise. The four-year-old has proved a model of consistency of late both on the all-weather and on turf and looks one of the few that can be fancied to reproduce his form off a fair mark. King Priam is thrown in on his old form but has looked a light of former days judged on recent evidence while Sports Express has clearly been difficult to train and is best watched on his return from an absence of over a year. Flat Stanley was disappointing on turf last time but ran well here previously and shapes as though this trip will suit ideally but Dare faces no easy task under top weight on his comeback from a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
