Mind Alert drew a blank in 2007 but such is the form of Derek Shaw's string at present that he may be worth chancing here at the expense of the likes of Van Ruymbeke, Blakeshall Quest and Tenancy. He has a decent enough record here and ran well enough on his penultimate start to suggest that he has another race in him whilst his barren spell at least means that he is on a reasonable mark. Tenancy hasn't been beaten too far the last twice but is still a maiden, Van Ruymbeke still has to prove himself in handicap company but the prolific mare Blakeshall Quest has sound claims on the pick of her form. However, with Derek Shaw enjoying such a successful winter, it's worth taking a chance that Mind Alert can bounce back to form.
