In depth

Verdict

A middle draw has proved to be a very big hindrance here in sprints and will defiantly count against the chances of Budelli, Manorbier and Roses Of Spring, if past history of such course events is anything to go by. Of the others, Technician looks ideally berthed to tow the far side along and should be able to set up a thriller as Mister Mal, Atlantic Viking and Up Tempo can all settle in his slipstream. The nearside rail appears to lack an obvious pacemaker and Ho Leng may have to revert to setting his own tempo. He is quite adept at making the running and is finally receiving some respite from the handicapper - and despite carrying top weight here, he is still 16lb lower in the ratings than he was for his last win. Lucayan Monarch also has to be considered after putting up a solid effort from 26lb out of the handicap in a better class of contest at York earlier in the week, but he does have a few questions to answer at this trip; and is not one to take too short a price about in this company.
