In depth

Verdict

Caroline Bailey's Northamptonshire yard is going along nicely at present and former pointer and hunter chaser Galway Jack can go well for the yard here off topweight. Upped somewhat harshly by 8lb for a recent Uttoxeter success though, he may find it just beyond him to concede over a stone to OIL BURNER. At home on both good and soft ground, Willie Amos' Sir Harry Lewis gelding has posted some useful form at best in half a dozen chase starts and really looked to be getting his act together the last twice, notably when landing a game success over Rudemeister last month at Carlisle. He still appears well treated despite a 7lb rise and can supplement those gains. The rest are not in the best of form but course and distance winner Allanard is a decent sort and completes the shortlist alongside Alan King's lightly-raced Volcan Surprise who sports first-time blinkers.
