Verdict

This group 3 contest is the track's most prestigious and richest race of the year, and we're siding with Silver Pivotal, in preference to Lady Deauville and Ordnance Row. The pick, a winner of a listed event at York in May, made up for being an unfortunate second at Ascot previously. Lightly raced, this is just her 3rd outing this year, and last time was runner up in the Winter Derby at Lingfield. She seems plotted for this by Gerard Butler, and has weight in hand over most of her rivals. Lady Deauville has won a couple of listed events in the last couple of weeks at Salisbury and Bath, and will attract plenty of support. She's the bottom weight, and expected to be among the front runners. Ordnance Row, one of two Richard Hannon runners (the other being Redolent) is joint top weight, and looking to follow up a recent group 3 success at Salisbury, in which his stablemate was third. Sir Michael Stoute's saddled the winner of this contest in the last couple of years, and he's aiming for the hat-trick with Gulf Express, who came from last to first to win at Glorious Goodwood. Favourites have won this only twice in the last 7 years, and we think it'll go the way of Silver Pivotal.
