HONOLULU ensured the meeting finished as it started as Johnny Murtagh and Aidan O'Brien combined once again for their sixth winner of the week. He was always travelling within himself and any question marks over his ability to see out the marathon trip were answered in style as he scampered away from Distinction in the closing stages. If the runner-up is slightly in decline then the winner continues to thrive and his class told as well as his stamina. He is another example of the embarrassment of riches O'Brien has at his disposal in the staying contests. Honolulu could well be a cup horse, but his chances in those contests are likely to be few and far between with the great Yeats and Septimus still around. Fifth-placed Ajaan looked the likely winner three furlongs out but he didn't stay - he is a nice sort though and can win again when dropped back in trip.
