An above average renewal that the winning time confirmed and it was Nicky Henderson's ZAYNAR who beat off all challengers up the hill to land the four-year-old's prize. Held up in the rear early on, he was soon challenging two from home and responded to Barry Geraghty's urgings all the way up the hill. He's a smart two-miler on this sort of track and was introduced in the Champion Hurdle betting at 14-1, though he may need further in time. Walkon was less than a length behind in second and he ran a blinder, enough to earn similar quotes to Zaynar for next year's Champion. Mourad was the best of the Irish and he stayed on for third, while Starluck travelled supremely before finding little for pressure up the hill. Ebadiyan ran out when leading before the final turn, but he was been squeezed along at the time.
