SECRET ASSET apparently is known as Elvis in Jane Chapple-Hyam's stable on account of his 'suspicious mind' but he was on a going day in the finale - making his six furlong stamina count over this shorter trip.

Held up in touch - he pursued long-time leader Fathom Five(eventually completing in third) and was able to see off his rivals in convincing fashion.

He holds an entry in the Stewards Cup on Saturday though is more likely to get into the consolation race.

La Fortunata raced toward the centre throughout and kept on admirably to claim second.

Estonia ran a cracker from some 8lb out of the handicap and it would be no surprise to see Michael Squance having him out again before the assessor have his say.

Boogie Waltzer and Sutton Veny ran on from unpromising positions to finish fifth and sixth respectively.

Invincible Lad hasn't shown much for a while and having been outpaced - he plugged on at the death and is worth a look when tried in easier grade.

Maze and Verinco had their chances but were soon seen off as the race began in earnest.

Noodles Blue Boy has been in good form this summer though his consistency has made winning in handicaps a difficult proposition.
