Manchester City are expected to complete the signing of Brisbane Roar midfielder Luke Brattan on a free transfer, according to Sky sources.

It is also understood that City intend to loan out the 25-year-old once he has completed all the formalities over his move to the Etihad Stadium.

City's sister club, Melbourne City, are understood to have brought Brattan to the attention of the Premier League club.

Brattan is expected to travel to Manchester to conclude a deal to join City and has already spoken of his excitement over the move.

"I'll meet up with my agent when I get to England and he'll go over some things with me," Brattan told Brisbane's Courier-Mail

"City is a massive club and this will be a once in a lifetime chance."

Brattan, who was born in Hull, joined Brisbane in 2008 and has gone on to make 91 league appearances, helping the club win three A-League titles.
