Carlisle have re-signed forward Derek Asamoah on a two-month contract.
The 35-year-old former Ghana international had been released by Carlisle at the end of last season following an 18-month spell, during which he clocked up 79 appearances and scored 14 goals.
Carlisle manager Keith Curle said on the club's official website: "He wasn't engaged for this season because I wasn't going to be able to offer him the game time someone of his age wants. He didn't want to sign a contract and just be a squad player.
"The situation has slightly changed for both parties where I haven't been able to bring in the type of striker I wanted with that kind of pace. He hasn't managed to secure anything for himself but he's out there and still available."
Curle added: "He has dynamics I like and things I don't think we currently have in our squad. He can turn defence into attack and he gives us an option of using another kind of formation.
"He can still scare the life out of defences and his assets are great assets to have."
