Shrewsbury have signed midfielder Jon Nolan from Chesterfield.

The 25-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year contract and is reunited at The New Meadow with manager Paul Hurst, who was his boss at Grimsby.

Nolan admitted the opportunity to work with Hurst again was a big factor for him.

"I was delighted when I got the phone call last week, when I knew I could get the chance to work with the gaffer and Doigy (assistant manager Chris Doig) again I snapped their hands off," he told Shrewsbury's official website.

"It was only a short spell from January to the end of the season but it was nothing but good, we got promoted and it was probably the best time of my career.

"I've got nothing but good things to say about these two and I can't wait to start pre-season again with them."
