Colchester have signed defender Jermaine Grandison following a successful trial.
The 26-year-old has been without a club since his release by Shrewsbury last summer.
He impressed in two matches for the U's Under-23 side against Derby and Crystal Palace and has now penned a deal until the end of the campaign.
Grandison started his career at Coventry and was promoted twice with the Shrews, playing 174 matches for the Shropshire club.
