Real Madrid want Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino as their new head coach following Zinedine Zidane’s decision to leave, Sky sources understand.

Real have not spoken to Pochettino and Tottenham sources have told Sky Sports News that no buyout clause exists in Pochettino's new five-year contract, which he signed only last week.

Those sources also deny there is a verbal agreement for Pochettino to be granted permission to discuss a La Liga move.

Zidane resigned from Real Madrid on Thursday, less than a week after becoming the first coach to win the Champions League in three consecutive seasons following the 3-1 victory over Liverpool in last weekend's final.

Zinedine Zidane has quit as Real Madrid manager just days after winning his third successive Champions League.

The Frenchman said Real needed a "new voice" in the dressing room but denied his decision was influenced by any players in the dressing room.

Gareth Bale, who scored twice in Real's 3-1 win over Liverpool in Saturday' Champions League final, and Cristiano Ronaldo have both cast doubts on their future at the Bernabeu since lifting the trophy.

Earlier this year, Sky Sports' Spanish football expert Guillem Balague reported that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez had identified Pochettino as top choice to be their next manager.

Arsene Wenger has also revealed he was offered the chance to manage Real Madrid on multiple occasions.

"Wenger has said no before, but now he is out of a job," Balague told Sky Sports.

"The interest in Pochettino from Real Madrid is obvious for all to see. He is the type of manager they would like to have at Real Madrid at some point.

"He has a new contract at Spurs, he is linked to everything that is happening for Spurs around the decisions of the players, it does not seem obvious for him to leave right now."
