Doncaster Rovers could look at bringing Jordan Bowery back for a second loan spell, but a defender remains their top priority.
Bowery has returned to parent club Aston Villa at the end of an initial one-month stint at the Keepmoat Stadium.
He made three appearances for Doncaster and caught the eye despite failing to find the target.
Rovers boss Paul Dickov admits he had been looking to extend the agreement before it came to an end.
He was unable to do so, but says the 22-year-old remains very much in his thoughts.
Dickov is, however, currently tied up with his efforts to find cover for the injured Gabriel Tamas.
He said: "Jordan has done ever so well.
"We spoke to him last Sunday, but he realises our priority at the minute is to try and get a defender in. But he's someone who is still in our thoughts."
