Carlisle have signed striker Kevin Osei on a six-month deal, subject to international clearance.

The 24-year-old Ghanaian, who progressed through Marseille's youth system, is hoping to win a longer-term contract with the Cumbrians after turning down a deal from Belgian side Waasland-Beveren.

Carlisle's head of recruitment Lee Dykes told the club's official website: "We've known about Kevin for a while.

"He's a striker who can also play out wide and he's one who can catch the eye when he's on his game.

"He had some other offers to consider so we let him go away for a few days to have a think about us, as a club, and about whether or not this was a challenge he wanted to face.

"There were other offers, including one from a club in Belgium, but he has expressed a desire to test himself in the English game."
