Leyton Orient have signed Peterborough midfielder Jack Payne on a season-long loan, with a view to a permanent deal.

O's head coach Ian Hendon has been interested in Payne for most of the summer, having taken the midfielder on the club's pre-season trip to Spain, and is delighted to finally bring the 23-year-old to Brisbane Road.

He told the club's official website: "It has been a long drawn out process but we are pleased to get a deal done which sees Jack come in on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

"I cannot thank the president enough as he has backed me yet again with this deal and we are looking forward to working with Jack.

"Jack needs a bit of work to get up to speed with the rest of the squad having not had much game time yet this season, but he will be a good addition to the squad."

Payne played 90 games for Peterborough since joining Posh from Gillingham for an undisclosed fee in June 2013.

Despite captaining the team last season and featuring on 45 occasions, he was placed on transfer list at the end of the 2014-15 campaign.
