The scout reports...

The latest report is on Italian starlet Angelo Ogbonna, tipped to make the trip to Euro 2012 this summer. Ogbonna, as the name would suggest, is of Nigerian descent. His parents were both immigrants who moved to Italy in 1983, but the youngster himself was born in Cassino in mid-Italy. Ogbonna was spotted early on by scouts from the Turin club, signing for their youth academy at the age of 14. At graduated well through the youth ranks with the Granata, and was handed his Serie A debut aged just 19 in 2007. The following season it was deemed that he would benefit from some lower league experience and he joined Crotone for a season before being brought back into the first-team fold. By 2009 he was soon a first-team regular, either at left-back or his more natural position in central defence. During this time the battle was intensifying off the field for his services with Italy and Nigeria both looking to make sure he would pledge his international future to them. He played for Italy's Under-21 side in 2009, but that did not put off Nigeria. Then in 2011 the battle was won when Italy called him up to their senior squad, despite the fact he was playing in Serie B. He made his full Italy debut in late 2011 against Poland. Ogbonna is now emerging as one of the most highly sought after defenders in Serie A. Torino signed him to a new four-year deal earlier this year, but that has not stopped him being linked to the likes of AC Milan and Manchester City. Ogbonna is an exceptional defender, full of pace and is an all-round tremendous athlete. The fact he is left footed also stands him out, coupled with the fact he can also play at full-back - but he is naturally at home in the centre. Despite spending the year in Serie B, helping Torino to the title, Ogbonna has only added to his reputation - but it remains to be seen whether he will stay put for their journey back into Serie A.

The scout says...

A very interesting player, who looks on course to make Italy's squad for Euro 2012 due to the fact he can play in more than one position. Torino look like having a huge job on their hands to try and keep him ahead of next season.
