York have signed striker Reece Thompson from Frickley Athletic for an undisclosed fee.
The 21-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a two-year contract with the option of a further 12 months and becomes Russ Wilcox's seventh summer signing. A significant sell-on clause has been included in the deal.
York moved quickly to recruit the forward following his winning goal in last week's pre-season friendly against Newcastle.
Thompson will go straight into York's squad for the opening game of the Sky Bet League 2 season on Saturday at Wycombe.
