Powerhouse to appear four weeks before the Royal Rumble
Tuesday 27 December 2016 09:09, UK
Goldberg will appear on the first Monday Night Raw of 2017 as he prepares for the Royal Rumble Match, WWE has announced.
The wrestling legend confirmed he will enter the 30-man melee a day after he crushed Brock Lesnar in under two minutes at Survivor Series on November 20 in his first match in 12 years.
Goldberg will now return to the red brand next Monday (January 2) in Tampa, live on Sky Sports 5, just four weeks before he competes in the second Royal Rumble of his career on January 29.
The 50-year-old's previous Rumble appearance came in 2004 when he eliminated Nunzio, Charlie Haas and Billy Gunn before he was removed by Kurt Angle following an attack from Lesnar.
Goldberg would go on to defeat Lesnar at that year's WrestleMania but then quit the ring before returning in startling fashion this autumn to beat The Beast once again.
The Oklahoman has entered the Rumble as he plots a third reign as world champion, having held the top belt in WCW for 174 days in 1998 and the premier title in WWE for 84 days in 2003.
The winner of the 2016 Royal Rumble Match - which will take place at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas - will go on to challenge for a world title at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando on April 2
Lesnar will also compete in the Royal Rumble Match, which you can watch live on Sky Sports Box Office from midnight on Sunday, January 29.
Watch Goldberg's return to Raw from 1am on Monday night (Tuesday morning), live on Sky Sports 5.
